Hello! There are quite a few new followers here an Hello! There are quite a few new followers here and I don’t think I’ve ever done an introduction (maybe in passing?) so here it goes.
•
My name is Tegan- and I am one of the people behind Comfortcloth Weaving. Eric is more behind the scenes but he takes care of all my technological and business needs. Comfortcloth wouldn’t be here without him by my side helping me along.
•
I have been weaving since 2007, learning how to do so when I attended @buffalostate for my BFA in fiber design and a minor in sculpture. I kept weaving even after graduation and formed this business to keep going.
•
I weave primarily home goods like towels and blankets. I do occasionally weave for fashion and interior designers.
•
If you have any questions regarding my weaving or our business journey- please ask away! I could talk about weaving for days.
•
I was going to do #marchmeetthemaker but I decided on it too late in the game. So this is my little contribution. Hey! I’m here and I’m busting my butt to get ready for our return to craft and fiber shows.

This queen sized blanket will be making its journey to it’s new home tomorrow. I will miss hulking it around my living room as I worked on seaming the two panels together.
•
You may ask- how did you wet finish a queen sized blanket? And I will answer- very patiently! I had to combine both manual and machine washing- just to make sure all of that fabric got tended to.
•
Don’t you just want to snuggle all day in it?! I did and I miss it already.

I don’t know how to make reels- so you get a silent meditation as one roll of fabric transforms into another. And the weird faces I make while I do it is also mildly satisfying.

Excuse me while I gush about this weaving some mor Excuse me while I gush about this weaving some more.

I love this structure- and how there is a little bit of chaos in the colors so that the structure kind of whispers it’s presence.
•
And I won’t lie- ‘Tide’ might be my favorite color way. It’s so simple but so dramatic. ‘Citrus’ is a very very close second- and I only have one throw left in those colors, so other people like it too.
•
I use my hand for scale- so that you can see the size of the pattern and the balance of it in the cloth. It is also my shameless way of laughing at myself.
•
My fancy new finger accessory is not a new way to train my fingers. I actually fractured my ring finger last week- but it was a minor enough injury that I just have to keep it buddy taped to it’s neighbor for a few weeks.
•
I can still weave, it’s just a little awkward.
•
I can’t wait to get these blankets off of the loom today! (That’s the goal at least). And then I have lots of hand sewing the panels together to make them queen sized!

•
I am making another queen sized blanket in the ‘Tide’ colorway. I love how at the edges of the dark navy you can see the tiniest baby peeks of purple.
•
I almost can’t wait to hang this up in all it’s glory. Or in the very least spread it out on my own bed to ooo and ahh over it before I put it up for sale.

We are artisan weavers and fiber artists from Upstate New York, inspired by the environment surrounding us we focus on feelings of comfort and the strong relationships developed through color and pattern when designing our fabric and rugs. Much of our work is created on one of our AVL, Macomber, or large rug looms.
