First warp of 2021! • This is yardage that will First warp of 2021!
•
This is yardage that will turn into a very special blanket for my father-in-law made out of the wool from his sheep.
•
I haven’t woven with yarn this big and chunky in a long time- and it’s kind of fun to watch it move quickly under my hands.
•
The yarn was designed for knitting, so it is full of loft and life. It was a little bit of a challenge to get everything under tension and to weave square. I am excited to see what this Romney yardage will transform into after the finishing process.
•
What are you planning for your first warp of the year? Are you going to do something different than your are used to? Or will you embrace the traditional and weave a classic to get back into the groove after the holiday madness?

This is a blanket off of the last warp for 2020.
•
This past year was a challenge- it was for everyone. We moved home and studio, our entire livelihoods shifted in an instant, and my relationship to weaving has evolved.
•
This last year I started a podcast with @ericfrisino- and it has been the most rewarding thing. To be able to connect with others and hear their stories and how they are managing their businesses in uncertain times has been nothing short of a life line.
•
These talks on the @professionalweaversociety podcast has really helped me refocus on what I want my weaving to be in the world. And also how I want to discuss weaving. We are a community, working from the ground up to create the magic that is woven cloth.
•
I wove 20 warps last year. This year I don’t have a goal, but I do already have a list waiting for me to attend to. So, I’m busting out a brand new notebook to start keeping closer records of what I create.
•
Despite everything- the sun on the horizon of this New Year has brought me a sense of purpose and belonging. I hope that in the coming months I can inspire the same amongst you all.
•
Stay tuned for adventures, new possibilities, and what I’m sure are going to be highly educational mistakes along the way.
•
Happy belated New Year from us at Comfortcloth, and we are looking forward to whatever comes next for us.

Some of you know, some of you don’t. A couple mo Some of you know, some of you don’t. A couple months ago @ericfrisino and I started working at our local spinning mill, Battenkill Fiber Mill, part time.
•
My job in particular is to run the spinning frame. So, that means I am spinning the singles that will then be plied into finished yarn.
•
This video is showing a job I had today. The fiber was short, so it was a challenge for sure. Most of the time, I can multi task while the machine is running. Today, the yarn needed a little extra coddling.
•
I have been getting such real world lessons about types of wool and how they spin- I’m in awe that so much variety comes from our area alone.

This 5x7 beauty is going to a client to give to a customer as a Christmas present. I couldn’t think of a better present than a custom woven rug from your own flock if I tried.

This unfinished cloth is on it’s way to become some beautiful window pane throws with #hudsonvalleywool spun at #battenkillfibers. And fun fact- I spun this wool myself! So seeing it come together in its final form is pretty exciting.

I’m working on these beautiful windowpane throws for #battenkillfibers. I love the kettle dyed green in the stripes.
•
I’m playing a little bit more with my stripe sequences to elicit a more delicate design. I am loving how the herringbone is interacting with the stripes.

One down, fifteen more to go.
