I am not a machine.
•
I get into a rhythm and completely lose myself in the whooshing of the shuttle. The beat and click and the dobby bars as they move ahead. The rattle of the harnesses. And then I remember “oh hey! I’m doing this!” And everything comes crashing down as my fingers fumble and my beat missteps.
•
That is a metaphor for something. But I am not nearly poetic enough to explore that territory. For now I will bask in the glory of the rocking rhythm of the loom.

There is something quite dramatic about folds of fabric piling up on the floor.

Today, I am working on making this yardage into some special little blankets. I used an 8 shaft, irregular point twill to create the beautiful diamond stripes.
•
This is the time of year that my looms are constantly being juggled. And with only two left at the house- it can get stressful. The new studio is slowly coming along. As soon as it is ready to accept the last two AVLs, they will be broken down and set back up same day (fingers crossed!)

We have been hard at work preparing for my favorite month of the year!

This year we are packed with events. This weekend come visit us at @magrochester for their fine craft show. November 1-3, we will be showcasing our work along side @winniechaiartjewelry @stephenleb and @frittelli_lockwood!

We have a whole batch of face towels ready to be shimmery jewels in your bathroom (or as a Christmas gift?!).

Looking forward to this show, especially since there is also an art exhibit up of my FAVORITE artist, #alphonsemucha.

About Tegan

Tegan is an artisan weaver and fiber artist from Upstate New York. Her work focuses on the feelings of comfort and the strong relationships developed through color and pattern. Many of her pieces are made on her 48″ 16 Harness AVL A-Series, her 64″ 10 harness Macomber, or her 10′ 4 harness Clement looms.
