Warping on a warping board feels like a slow waltz Warping on a warping board feels like a slow waltz sometimes. Swaying slightly as you shift your weight, wrapping the yarn peg to peg.

It’s been nice doing these smaller linen warps (3-4 yards) because it is giving me the chance to understand the material. What it can or can’t do. And it’s ability to surprise me each iteration.
•
I’m looking forward to dancing with this warp in the next coming week.

We have big plans for 2021! • One part of which We have big plans for 2021!
•
One part of which is supporting other weavers! We are looking to expand our online retail business and we would love to talk to you about carrying your book, dvd, class, tool, or other weaving tool or accessory that you make!
•
The first book we are adding to our shop to kick it all off is Kelly Marshall’s (@customwoveninteriors) book Custom Woven Interiors!
•
We picked this book to kick off the year because we love the work Kelly makes and this book is not only beautifully written it is also beautifully photographed, and each project is clearly and thoughtfully explained.
•
It is available now and we are excited to get this book into your hands!

I’m in sample euphoria right now. • It took me I’m in sample euphoria right now.
•
It took me three days to get the basic double weave tube. And now I am doing a double weave, with the layers stitched together and a different pattern on either side.
•
The pictures aren’t great because I’m battling with a naughty harness (I’m looking at you number four!). But you can see that I have a 8 shaft color and weave twill on the face of the fabric, and underneath is a straight twill.
•
It took me a long time but I finally sat down with this fantastic double weave book. It helped me to dissect the tie up for double weave so that I could actually know how to create with it.
•
Weaving with 100% linen in the warp and weft and learning in depth double weave simultaneously. I’m looking forward to the next warp that I will do in just one whole pattern to get a feeling for how the final fabric will weave up.
•
I’m sure this would have been much easier to figure out if I had a better sense of thinking three-dimensionally- but I got it gosh darn it!

If you guessed that I was working with linen, you If you guessed that I was working with linen, you would be correct!
•
I have never used linen in the warp before so I have been asking @theburroughsgarret a lot of questions to make sure that I make this weaving successful. And thanks to @ericfrisino for teaching me what certain knots are actually called.
•
Of course the first time I tensioned the warp I ripped out three of the tabs that hold the tension rod in place. I thought I could just get away with it but my tension was ugly and I had to take the time to do some much needed loom repair.
•
I spent the evening and mended some large holes and reattached the tabs I had ripped off. And then I slow rentensioned the warp so that it was consistent and secured.
•
I am trying to weave a double weave linen but it seems my either my tie up is not correct or my treadling is not appropriate. Either way the fabric is quite handsome and I can’t wait to see what it is like when it is finished.

•
The yarn used was made from his sheep from a few years back and has been sitting in a cedar chest long after the sheep had found new homes.
•
It was high time for my father in law to have a new blanket for his bed. And this for sure will keep him cozy and warm! It is a whopping 14 lbs of blanket that he will enjoy for years to come.
•
It was so nice I almost didn’t want to hand it over! (Rupert was dismayed when I took it away from him) But the excitement he had about setting up his bed with new matching sheets and seeing how the blanket perfectly fell over the edges is totally worth it.
•
Now back to the loom!

•
I’m currently working on my second warp, which is just a sample, but it’s a doozy.
•
You will just have to wait and see what comes out! I’ll give you a hint, @theburroughsgarret has been incredibly encouraging in this endeavor and has giving me the courage to attempt this. Can you guess what it is?
•
Stay tuned for updates on this special little sample.
